What Does a Full-Service Marketing Partnership Really Deliver? A Client's Perspective

For many small businesses, marketing becomes one more responsibility competing for time and attention. Social media needs content. Blogs need to be written. Emails need to go out. And all of it needs to look, sound, and feel like the same brand.

That's where King Jewelers found itself before partnering with SHD Marketing.

Melanie Roake, Manager King Jewelers

For the past 18 months, SHD Marketing has worked alongside King Jewelers to manage social media, SEO blog content, and email marketing. We recently sat down with Melanie, manager of King Jewelers, to talk about what that partnership has meant for the business and where she sees the greatest return on their marketing investment.

When Marketing Becomes Another Job

Like many business owners, the King Jewelers’ team was familiar with the importance of social media, but they weren’t quite sure how to manage it effectively. Before partnering with SHD, Melanie explained how social media felt overwhelming, from having to write tailored captions to selecting hashtags.

"Quite literally everything was challenging. I had to Google the difference between a Reel and a Story. I didn't know what hashtags to use, how to match music, or what I was even supposed to post."

Without a background in marketing, every post became something to overthink. While sharing the occasional Instagram story was manageable, the real challenge was building a cohesive and consistent online presence.

Bringing in the Right Expertise

It quickly became clear that effective social media required more than simply posting. It required strategy, consistency, creativity, and expertise.

King Jewelers partnered with SHD for three ongoing services:

  • Social media management

  • SEO blog writing

  • Email marketing

One of the first things that Melanie noticed after partnering with SHD was how cohesive their feed became compared to when she was in charge of it.

"Mine looked like, 'What's this crazy girl posting today?'" she joked. "Everything was more thoughtfully done and more branded looking.”

Beyond creating polished content, SHD brought a level of marketing knowledge that the team knew they couldn't replicate internally. From writing SEO-focused blogs to planning email campaigns, the partnership gave King Jewelers access to specialized expertise while allowing them to stay focused on serving customers.

"I have all the information in my head," she explained, "but it would never come out beautifully or creatively as the SHD Marketing team’s crafting of the message." Learning about SEO only reinforced the decision to outsource. "I don't even know what that means," she admitted. "So that's exactly why I needed a marketing company."

Building Confidence in Front of the Camera

In addition to navigating the learning curve of social media, Melanie found that getting comfortable on camera was another challenge when managing King Jewelers' Instagram.

Before working with SHD Marketing, appearing in videos wasn't something she even considered. "I would never even think to do it," she said. "I wouldn't even want to post a selfie of myself."

Being on camera doesn't come naturally to everyone, and Melanie was no exception. But having the SHD Marketing team there to guide the process has completely changed her mindset. Rather than feeling like she has to brainstorm, plan, and execute everything herself, the SHD Marketing team comes up with the concept, writes the content, directs the action, and takes care of all the editing and posting.

"There are so many times where my head is spinning, and I don't know what to say," she said. "Taylor will just say, 'Start with this,' and it gives you a direction."

Because of SHD Marketing’s collaborative and encouraging nature, something that once felt intimidating is now something that Melanie approaches with much more confidence.

Staying Relevant and Connecting With Customers

After 18 months of working together, the impact of SHD's services has extended beyond the King Jewelers social media accounts.

"I think it's huge. I mean, in every way."  Melanie said when reflecting on the partnership's impact on the business.

One of the biggest benefits has been helping King Jewelers stay relevant and consistently in front of its audience.

"We have such beautiful, loyal customers, and I'm so grateful for [them]," Melanie shared. "But staying in front of everything is hard, and you guys just know how to do that."

That consistent presence has translated into real-world interactions with customers. People come into the store and reference content they've seen online, whether it's a funny post or an educational piece.

"People come in being like, 'Oh my God, I saw that post. That was so funny,'" Melanie told us. "Or, 'Thank you so much for teaching me about that.'"

Moments like those demonstrate that social media can have an impact that goes far beyond digital engagement. When customers bring up a post in person, it shows that the content has translated into a tool for building customer relationships.

The ROI of a Trusted Marketing Partnership

When measuring marketing ROI, it's natural to focus on tangible metrics such as engagement, website traffic, leads, and conversions. Those numbers matter. But King Jewelers' experience demonstrates that the return on a marketing partnership can extend beyond what's easily captured in a report. It can also mean time returned to your team, greater consistency across your marketing, confidence that the work is being done well, and trust in the people managing it.

"I trust you guys with everything," Melanie shared.

That trust allows the King Jewelers team to know that their marketing is being handled by people who understand their business and are actively thinking about the next steps.

Even when an idea doesn't perform exactly as expected, the team sees value in the process.

"Even if something's not the most successful, I know that we've learned so much from it, and can turn it into the most successful next time."

That willingness to experiment, learn, and adapt is a key part of an effective marketing strategy. Not every campaign will be the biggest success, but every campaign provides insight that can inform the next one.

"Don't" Manage It All Yourself

When asked what advice they would give to another business owner considering managing their own social media and marketing, the answer was simple: "Don't."

For King Jewelers, the reasoning comes down to one thing: business owners have enough on their plates already.

"Running a business is hard enough,"  Melanie explained. "You shouldn't stress yourself trying to figure out this part because you have bigger things to figure out."

Marketing is an investment, but so is the time and energy required to manage it yourself. For King Jewelers, outsourcing wasn't simply about getting tasks off the team's plate. It meant gaining access to expertise they didn't have internally while freeing them to focus on what they know best: their customers and their business.

Marketing That Goes Beyond the Screen

King Jewelers' experience demonstrates that the ROI of a strong marketing partnership isn't limited to what's visible online. It's the cohesive brand presence that keeps a business relevant. It's the customer who walks through the door and mentions a post they saw. It's having the confidence to try something new on camera. And it's knowing that someone is continually thinking about how to move your marketing forward.

Most importantly, it's having a team that can take the knowledge, ideas, and personality inside your business and turn them into meaningful ways to connect with the people you serve.

For King Jewelers, partnering with SHD Marketing has meant more than handing off social media, blogs, and email marketing. It has meant gaining a trusted marketing partner, building stronger connections with customers, and having more freedom to focus on what they do best.

As Melanie put it, working with SHD is "easy and fun." And perhaps the best description of the partnership came down to four simple words: "You guys got me."
